Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced a major enhancement to Amazon CloudWatch Application Signals, introducing AI-powered debugging for synthetic monitoring through integration with CloudWatch Synthetics. The update allows DevOps teams to use natural language queries—such as “Why is my checkout canary failing?”—via AI assistants like Amazon Q or Claude to automatically analyze and resolve monitoring issues. The integration enables Application Signals’ audit framework to correlate synthetic canary failures with service health metrics, traces, and dependencies, transforming what was previously a time-consuming manual process into an intelligent, automated workflow.

Leveraging multi-layered diagnostics across network, authentication, performance, scripting, infrastructure, and dependency areas, the system examines data from HAR files, CloudWatch logs, and S3 artifacts to pinpoint root causes. This innovation expands CloudWatch’s multi-signal observability capabilities, offering DevOps engineers faster insights into service reliability and operational health. Available across all commercial AWS regions where CloudWatch Synthetics operates, the new feature marks a significant step toward AI-assisted application performance monitoring and streamlined debugging for complex cloud environments.
