With the launch of a new capability it is calling “crash consistent snapshots,” which is accessible for portions of EBS volumes, Amazon Web Services Inc. said it is focusing more emphasis on “data resiliency” inside its flagship Amazon Elastic Block Store service.
Instead of taking a snapshot of every volume tied to an Amazon EC2 instance, the new capability makes it easier and more economical to produce “multi-volume snapshots” of particular EBS volumes linked to that instance.
The business said in a blog post that many customers frequently back up their information using EBS multi-volume snapshots and utilize Amazon EBS for mission-critical applications.
