Amazon is in Discussion with Italy to Invest Billions of Euros in a Cloud Strategy

The computing unit of Amazon, Amazon Web Service (AWS) is in discussion with Italy to invest billions of euros to expand their data center operations in the country as their goal is to boost their cloud offerings in the European market, according to a report by Reuters.

There are ongoing discussions between both parties about the size and location of the investment. AWS is considering expanding its existing site in Milan or developing a new one.

The company started expanding its first cloud region in Italy in 2020 as per its strategy to invest 2 billion euros by 2029. Luxury car maker Ferrari and insurer Assicurazioni Generali are a few of their clients in the country according to the website.

The company is also developing an infrastructure to offer cloud services to the telecom industry, which needs vast resources.
