Arista Networks Unveils Next-Gen Data and AI Centers

Arista Networks, a global leader in cloud and AI networking, has introduced its next-generation R4 Series routers, designed to power large-scale AI, data center (DC), and backbone deployments. The new R4 family delivers high performance, energy efficiency, and integrated security while reducing total cost of ownership (TCO). With the introduction of dense 800 Gbps systems and 3.2 Tbps HyperPorts, Arista sets a new industry benchmark, enabling ultra-capacity and low latency for distributed AI workloads.

“The 800GbE market is growing explosively with port shipments more than tripling sequentially in Q2 ’25, and Arista led in branded market share for both 800GbE as well as overall data center Ethernet switching,” said Seamus Crehan, president of Crehan Research, noting the segment’s projected 90% CAGR driven by AI and compute workloads. The R4 Series offers flexible, modular solutions with Arista EOSⓇ. It supports EVPN, VXLAN, MPLS, and SR/SRv6. This design is great for two-tier leaf-and-spine setups. Security is a core focus, with TunnelSec™ technology enabling MACsec, IPsec, and VXLANsec encryption on every port. Tim Smith, SVP at Magnite, highlighted that Arista’s 800G spine solution provides an “ideal foundation for the future” of AI-driven infrastructure.
