Bitdefender Launches Complimentary Internal Attack Surface Assessment

Bitdefender has introduced the Internal Attack Surface Assessment, a free evaluation designed to help organizations identify and mitigate hidden risks stemming from unnecessary user access to applications and system utilities. As cybercriminals increasingly pivot toward Living-Off-the-Land (LOTL) and fileless techniques-now involved in over 84% of major attacks-traditional defenses often struggle to detect legitimate tools being used for malicious lateral movement. Powered by the Bitdefender GravityZone PHASR technology, this assessment provides a data-driven view of internal exposure, allowing businesses to quantify risk at the user level and uncover shadow IT without disrupting operations.

“Cybercriminals are increasingly exploiting legitimate applications and system tools to bypass traditional defenses, creating a growing and often invisible attack surface that is difficult to defend,” said Andrei Florescu, president and general manager at Bitdefender Business Solutions Group. “The Bitdefender Internal Attack Surface Assessment gives organizations a clear, data-driven view of these risks and a path to remediation. We are offering it at no cost to help level the playing field, enabling organizations to identify and close critical gaps in their internal attack surface as adversaries rapidly shift tactics.” This initiative empowers enterprises to adopt a prevention-first posture, potentially reducing their attack surface by up to 95%.
