BrowserStack, the world’s leading software testing platform, announced the launch of its Accessibility Design Toolkit, a Figma plugin that helps design teams create accessible products from the design stage.
BrowserStack’s collaboration with WebAIM on the 2025 WebAIM Million report reveals the scale of the problem: 94.8% of the million homepages analyzed had at least one failure against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), with issues with color contrast and missing alt text among the top two failures, both of which are preventable by design.
The findings underscore the urgency of starting to design products with accessibility in mind. With more than 8,800 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) lawsuits filed in 2024 and the European Accessibility Act coming into force, teams are increasingly pressured to meet accessibility standards, but most continue to address these issues after launch, when fixes have become more difficult and costly.
“Teams lack tools to quickly detect accessibility issues, even though most of these problems arise during the design phase,” said Nakul Aggarwal , co-founder and CTO of BrowserStack. “Our toolkit addresses this need by allowing designers to resolve up to 40% of these issues directly in Figma.”

Powered by BrowserStack’s proprietary Spectra™ rules engine, the Accessibility Design Toolkit helps shift accessibility left and enables design teams to:
• Instantly scan design files into Figma to check color contrast, touch target size, spacing issues, and more.
• Automatically detect UI components, validate them against WCAG standards, and automatically annotate based on ARIA roles
• Get AI-powered suggestions for adding alt text, correcting heading structure, and improving keyboard focus order
• Generate developer-ready handover documents with built-in accessibility specifications and clear annotations.
The Accessibility Design Toolkit is part of BrowserStack‘s all-in-one accessibility suite and is now available to all Figma users , integrating seamlessly into existing workflows.
