Cloudflare has announced the launch of Workers VPC and Workers VPC Private Link, two new solutions designed to enable developers to build secure, global applications across multiple cloud environments. These offerings aim to eliminate the complexities and limitations associated with traditional Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), providing a more streamlined and flexible approach to cross-cloud development.
Traditional VPCs often pose challenges for modern developers, including complex networking requirements and substantial data egress fees when moving data between regions or outside the VPC boundaries. These constraints can hinder the adoption of newer, best-in-class cloud products and complicate the integration of existing databases with modern compute platforms.
Workers VPC addresses these issues by grouping an application’s Cloudflare resources into isolated environments, ensuring that only resources within a specific Workers VPC can access one another. This approach provides a modern alternative to the traditional VPC model, tailored for network and compute workloads that are not confined to a single region.

Complementing this, Workers VPC Private Link enables secure connectivity between a Workers VPC and external VPCs in public or private clouds. This effectively creates a unified VPC across different cloud environments, allowing developers to build applications on Cloudflare Workers while seamlessly accessing core business data stored in legacy public clouds and traditional data centers.
Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare, emphasized the company’s commitment to developer flexibility:
“We constantly hear from developers that they want the freedom to build with Cloudflare Workers, but legacy cloud providers make it challenging. Developers deserve to be able to build with whatever tools they want, no matter where their data lives or what infrastructure they rely on. With our expertise across networking, security and privacy, we have all the right pieces in place that make Cloudflare Workers the best place for developers to build and connect the next generation of applications.”
Built on Cloudflare’s extensive private networking products, Workers VPC and Workers VPC Private Link are expected to be available later this year. These innovations aim to empower developers to build global applications on Cloudflare Workers, connecting seamlessly to legacy public clouds and traditional data centers, and simplifying access to modern cloud resources at scale.
