Singapore-based digital monetization leader Coda has announced the acquisition of Recharge, a top European prepaid payments platform headquartered in Amsterdam. The move unites two profitable regional players, enhancing Coda’s global footprint and accelerating its expansion beyond gaming into the broader digital content economy.

The acquisition brings together complementary strengths, Coda’s B2B expertise and global publisher network with Recharge’s robust B2C presence and prepaid capabilities across Europe. The combined business, based on 2024 data, would have processed over US$1.75 billion in sales and served more than 200 million users in over 180 countries.

Coda partners with global gaming giants like Electronic Arts, Activision, Riot Games, and HoYoverse, powering over 500 titles and hundreds of local payment channels to deliver seamless experiences. Recharge, known for consumer-focused platforms like Recharge.com and Startselect.com, offers 16,000+ products from brands including Apple, Google, and Vodafone, and boasts over 8 million users.

Günther Vogelpoel, CEO of Recharge, added, “Joining forces with Coda gives us the opportunity to take everything we’ve built… and extend it globally to truly become the global leader we set out to be.”

The deal positions the combined company to better serve the digital content ecosystem by offering scalable, secure, and locally tailored monetization solutions for both partners and consumers worldwide.
