Fivetran Acquires Tobiko Data to Strengthen AI-Ready Data Transformation Capabilities

Fivetran

Fivetran, a global leader in automated data movement, has announced the acquisition of Tobiko Data, the open-source transformation company behind SQLMesh and SQLGlot, to enhance its end-to-end platform with advanced, AI-ready data transformation. The deal positions Fivetran as the only fully managed solution that unifies data movement, transformation, and activation, enabling organizations to prepare and deliver trusted data at scale. Tobiko’s intelligent transformation engine is designed for modern, production-grade environments, reducing unnecessary runs, improving reliability, and lowering compute costs while supporting faster testing and deployment.

“Our customers are under pressure to deliver trusted data faster, across more teams, and into more environments,” said George Fraser, CEO of Fivetran. “With Tobiko Data, we’re expanding our transformation capabilities to meet that demand – and doing it with an open foundation that encourages transparency, innovation, and interoperability.” Tyson Mao, co-founder of Tobiko Data, added, “We built Tobiko Data to make data transformation more collaborative, transparent, and predictable. By joining forces with Fivetran, we can scale these capabilities globally and help customers turn transformation into a strength.” The acquisition follows Fivetran’s purchase of Census earlier this year and builds on its momentum of surpassing $300 million in ARR while expanding hybrid deployment, data lake services, and connector capabilities.
