Gomboc AI, the trailblazer in deterministic AI solutions for cloud security remediation, announced it has successfully raised $13 million in seed-stage funding. The latest round of funding includes a significant $8 million investment, led by Ballistic Ventures, with continued support from Glilot Capital Partners and Hetz Ventures, both of which co-led Gomboc AI’s initial $5 million seed investment. This capital infusion will fuel the company’s mission to eliminate the security backlog that hampers critical business transformation efforts.
Originating from a CISO’s Struggles with Security Backlogs
The idea behind Gomboc AI was born from the frustrations of Ian Amit, a former Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), who was responsible for securing multiple businesses under a single corporate umbrella. Amit struggled to manage an overwhelming flood of tickets and detailed vulnerability reports that often ran into the hundreds of pages.
“I started asking: What if there was no backlog, no more tickets? What if the inefficiencies we’ve normalized didn’t have to exist? The security industry is drowning in alerts, and no solution has fundamentally solved the root problem of remediating issues with minimal friction,” said Amit.
Determined to find a solution, Amit, together with Co-founder and Chief Product Officer Matthew Sweeney, developed a groundbreaking deterministic AI engine designed to do more than identify cloud security misconfigurations and vulnerabilities—it provides solutions to fix them.
The Deterministic AI Approach to Cloud Security Remediation
Unlike conventional cloud security products that depend on rigid templates, signature-based systems, or generative AI, Gomboc AI introduces a patent-pending deterministic AI engine. This engine guarantees reliable, repeatable, and context-aware code-level fixes, ensuring consistency in security remediation. The platform integrates with cloud infrastructure via Infrastructure as Code (IaC), which allows organizations to address misconfigurations while maintaining the agility and functionality of their environment.
“Many tools give visibility into security issues, but none tackle the core problem—systematically fixing vulnerabilities in a way that’s friendly for developers,” said Amit. “Gomboc AI eradicates the backlog, cuts down Mean Time To Remediate (MTTR) from months to mere minutes, and enables security and DevOps teams to focus on high-value initiatives.”
Key Features and Benefits of Gomboc AI
-
Provides Real Fixes, Not Just Alerts: Gomboc AI goes beyond alerting users about issues; it generates accurate, repeatable, and context-sensitive code-level changes through Infrastructure as Code (IaC), all while preserving the functionality of the cloud environment.
-
Eradicates Security Backlogs: Unlike traditional tools that generate a new set of tickets, Gomboc AI prevents the creation of additional issues by eliminating the security backlog, offering an automated, policy-driven remediation process.
-
Policy-Driven, Developer-Friendly: Built around a straightforward policy framework that aligns with industry standards like NIST CSF and CIS, Gomboc AI tailors remediations to the unique needs of each organization. Changes require DevOps approval, and scanning can be integrated directly into DevOps pipelines.
-
No Generative AI Involved: Gomboc AI’s focus on deterministic AI sets it apart from generative AI-based tools, ensuring context-aware fixes that are always accurate and do not depend on customer data for model training.
A Game-Changer for Security and DevSecOps Teams
“The problem Gomboc AI is solving is universal—organizations everywhere face a massive challenge with security-ticket backlogs. Gomboc AI is transforming this issue into a streamlined, automated process that is both policy-driven and scalable,” said Roger Thornton, Co-founder and General Partner of Ballistic Ventures. “This company represents a paradigm shift in how security and DevSecOps teams collaborate, enabling them to work more efficiently and effectively. We’re excited to welcome Gomboc AI to our portfolio and are eager to see how their innovative solution will reshape the future of cloud security management.”
With this new round of funding, Gomboc AI is poised to revolutionize the cloud security landscape, offering organizations a practical and powerful solution to the persistent challenges they face in security remediation.
