Intel Corp. has shared new technical details about Meteor Lake, an upcoming series of desktop and laptop processors that will feature chiplet technology.
In preparation for its presentation at Hot Chips, a significant event for the semiconductor industry, Intel described the processor family. In the past, Intel built each transistor that makes up a chip onto a single piece of silicon. With the Meteor Lake series, the business will implement transistors on numerous, smaller modules rather than a single piece of silicon.
A chiplet architecture is the term used in the semiconductor industry to describe this method of chip design. Intel intends to introduce the technology to the data center sector in addition to using Foveros to power laptop and desktop processors.
