EY announced the appointment of Joe Depa as EY’s new Global Chief Innovation Officer, effective immediately. In this role, he will spearhead applied innovation to improve service delivery and help EY teams address and solve business challenges.
Depa joins the EY organization at a pivotal time, as a range of emerging technologies are reshaping businesses and industries, creating a host of new challenges and opportunities. To keep pace, the EY organization continues to make significant investments in areas such as AI, quantum computing and blockchain, and recently established the EY.ai Global AI Advisory Board.
In his new role, Depa will lead the organization’s global innovation strategy, including overseeing efforts to implement emerging technologies for tangible business applications, both internally and in EY member firms’ work with clients.

Over the past decade, Depa has worked closely with executives and boards to bring innovative products and services to market, improve customer and employee experiences, and help drive operational efficiencies through technology. Most recently, he served as the inaugural Chief Data and AI Officer at a leading university and healthcare organization. At the university, he helped foster AI culture, launch an AI stewardship program, and build a secure database. Previously, he served as Senior Managing Director and Global Lead for Data and AI at a multinational professional services firm, where he led a team of AI strategists and data engineers in the development and implementation of new products and services.
