Keysight Launches 224G Test Solutions to Enable 1.6T Optical Network

Keysight

Keysight Technologies, has introduced a new suite of 224G test solutions designed to expand its 1.6T end-to-end testing portfolio, helping engineers address the increasing research, validation and manufacturing challenges associated with next-generation electrical and optical interconnects used in AI-driven data centers.

As artificial intelligence workloads continue to scale rapidly, modern data center architectures are evolving toward 224G electrical lanes and 1.6T optical modules. These advances bring significant technical challenges across the product lifecycle, including maintaining signal integrity at extremely high data rates, managing tighter compliance requirements and ensuring efficient, repeatable testing during high-volume manufacturing.

To support engineers working in this evolving landscape, Keysight’s new Digital Communication Analyzer (DCA)-based test applications enable standards-compliant testing aligned with IEEE 802.3dj requirements. The integrated solutions are designed to simplify testing workflows while ensuring interoperability, performance reliability and high manufacturing yield. By streamlining development from early validation to production testing, the platform helps accelerate time-to-market for next-generation 224G-per-lane AI data center interconnects.

Expanded 1.6T Optical and Electrical Testing Portfolio

224G DCA Optical Transmitter Conformance Test Software for IEEE 802.3dj

The Keysight N1095DJCA optical transmitter conformance test software is aligned with the IEEE 802.3dj standard and designed to support accurate optical measurement during advanced stages of design development. Running on the DCA platform and supporting the N1093 DCA-M sampling oscilloscopes, the application delivers high-sensitivity measurements with improved margin for emerging optical interfaces.

Key capabilities include:

Correlation of optical transmitter performance metrics, including Transmitter and Dispersion Eye Closure Quaternary (TDECQ) and TDECQ Codeword Error Ratio (TDECQ-CER) across research and pre-production testing environments.

Automated characterization workflows that reduce debug and validation time for 1.6T single-mode optical transceivers aligned with IEEE testing methodologies.

High-sensitivity measurements that maintain compliance margins at 224G data rates.

Automated generation of detailed test reports, converting complex measurement data into structured results within seconds.

224G DCA Electrical Transmitter Test Software for IEEE 802.3dj

The Keysight N1091DJPA electrical transmitter validation software is built for research and development environments, allowing engineers to analyze transmitter behavior using half-rate clocking setups. This approach makes the solution particularly effective for early-stage validation of silicon devices, ASICs and system-level designs.

Notable features include:

Guided workflows that simplify setup and configuration, reducing manual test complexity.

Integration with the Keysight DCA-X wide-bandwidth sampling oscilloscope and DCA-M clock recovery modules to accelerate electrical validation and shorten testing cycles.

224G Multimode DCA-M Sampling Oscilloscope

Keysight has also introduced the N1096 multimode DCA-M sampling oscilloscope, designed to meet the high-speed measurement requirements of next-generation AI infrastructure. The solution supports 224 Gbps or 112 GBd PAM4 measurement capability for multimode short-reach optical applications.

This new instrument enables:

Faster development of 224 Gbps multimode optical technologies with extended waveform validation capabilities.

Design and testing of next-generation multimode optical components and 1.6T interconnect modules used in AI infrastructure.

Accelerated transition from early research and development to manufacturing readiness for multimode optical transceivers.
