Microsoft plans to downsize hundreds of jobs at its Azure cloud unit, according to a report by Business Insider. These job cuts added to the big layoffs witnessed in the technology and media sector this year. The workforce from teams like Azure for Operators and Mission Engineering will be impacted because of this layoff. Approximately 1,500 jobs from Azure for Operators will be laid off, according to the report.

The news comes after the organization has already cut 1900 jobs at Activision Blizzard and Xbox in January this year. Microsoft’s Azure cloud unit witnesses significant growth because of the company’s decision to heavily invest in AI. The company also has access to the advanced technologies of OpenAI-backed ChatGPT through its strategic business alliance.
