OpenAI announced the acquisition of Statsig, a leading experimentation platform trusted by some of the world’s most innovative companies, including OpenAI. Alongside the acquisition, Vijaye Raji, Statsig’s founder and CEO, will join OpenAI as Chief Technology Officer of Applications, reporting to Fidji Simo, CEO of Applications.
As CTO of Applications, Raji will lead product engineering for ChatGPT and Codex, overseeing core systems and product lines including infrastructure and Integrity. His background as a founder and leader of large-scale consumer engineering teams at Meta brings both entrepreneurial vision and operational expertise to help OpenAI scale its next generation of products.
“Vijaye has a remarkable record of building new consumer and B2B products and systems at scale. He’s joining at a time when our models are opening entirely new ways to build, and his leadership will help turn that progress into safe applications that empower people with many new tools to improve their lives, help companies increase their impact and allow developers to build faster and better products,” said Fidji Simo, CEO of Applications, OpenAI.

Statsig was built on the principle that rapid experimentation, tight feedback loops, and data-informed decision-making drive the best products. Its platform powers A/B testing, feature flagging, and real-time decisioning at scale. Bringing Statsig in-house will enhance OpenAI’s ability to accelerate experimentation and deliver more responsive, high-quality user experiences.
“Joining OpenAI as CTO of Applications is an extraordinary opportunity to bring my experience scaling consumer and enterprise products to a mission I deeply believe in: advancing AI in ways that are capable of solving hard problems, reliable, and truly beneficial to people everywhere,” said Vijaye Raji. “The journey with Statsig has been deeply gratifying, leading me to this moment and giving me conviction that we will continue helping teams ship better software every day.”
Once the acquisition closes, subject to customary regulatory approvals, Statsig employees will transition to OpenAI while continuing to operate independently from its Seattle office to serve existing customers without disruption.
