Qualcomm and GlobalFoundries have signed an agreement to more than double their existing long-term manufacturing agreement for chips used in 5G transceivers, Wi-Fi, automotive and Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity.
The chips will be made in GlobalFoundries’ factories in the US, Germany, Singapore, and France under a multibillion dollar revenue agreement. By increasing capacity at GlobalFoundries, the companies promised to support US-based manufacturing.
One of GlobalFoundries’ initial clients, US chipmaker Qualcomm, signed a long-term contract in 2021 that covered several regions and technologies.
