Sentry, a leading developer-focused debugging platform, has announced its acquisition of Emerge Tools, a company specializing in mobile application development solutions. This strategic move aims to bolster Sentry’s capabilities in providing comprehensive performance monitoring for mobile applications.
Emerge Tools is known for its suite of products that assist development teams in delivering smaller, faster, and more reliable mobile apps. Its platform has been utilized by companies like OpenAI for visual regression testing and Spotify for app size monitoring. Notably, DoorDash leveraged Emerge to increase app launch speeds by 60%, while Duolingo used it to eliminate thousands of lines of unnecessary code.
“Emerge Tools is a leader in mobile development, with products used by some of the world’s largest applications,” said Milin Desai, CEO of Sentry. “The rise of AI is reshaping how software is built and shipped, and the need for quality tools has never been greater, especially for mobile applications. The addition of Emerge’s products and team will help Sentry continue to build the best possible platform for mobile developers worldwide.”

By integrating Emerge Tools’ offerings, Sentry aims to provide developers with enhanced capabilities to identify and address performance bottlenecks, optimize app size, and maintain consistent user experiences. This integration is expected to create the most comprehensive mobile application monitoring solution available.
“We are thrilled to join Sentry and create a world-class mobile experience for developers,” said Josh Cohenzadeh, co-founder and CEO of Emerge Tools. “Together, we will assist mobile developers throughout their journey, from the first lines of code to deployment to billions of users.”
This acquisition marks Sentry’s fourth major purchase, following the acquisitions of Specto in November 2021, Codecov in November 2022, and Syntax in April 2023. Emerge Tools, founded in late 2020 by Josh Cohenzadeh and Noah Martin, has received funding from Y Combinator, Haystack, Upside Partnership, Liquid 2 Ventures, and Matrix Partners.
With this acquisition, Sentry continues to expand its developer-centric approach, aiming to provide tools that enhance the performance and reliability of mobile applications across the globe.
