Snow Software introduces Snow Copilot, its first generative AI assistant designed to solve big challenges in IT asset management and FinOps

Snow-Software

Snow Software, the global leader in technology intelligence, introduced Snow Copilot, the first in a series of artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities designed to address major IT asset challenges Management (ITAM) and FinOps were developed. Developed at its innovation incubator Snow Labs, Snow Copilot is an AI assistant that allows users to informally ask questions and receive answers in natural language. At the time of publication, Snow Copilot for Software Asset Management (SAM) compute data is available in Snow Atlas and additional use cases are being explored on an ongoing basis.

Snow Labs is a diverse innovation initiative that helps companies make better decisions and achieve positive business outcomes with technology intelligence – the ability to understand and manage all technology data through Snow Atlas. The current project focuses on using artificial intelligence to deepen data insights and further explore opportunities to address multi-faceted ITAM and FinOps challenges. This is the first offering based on Snow AI.

“We designed Snow Labs as a space for short-term experimentation and prototype development. This allows us to test new technologies that are outside the roadmap of our standard products,” said Steve Tait, Chief Technology Officer and EVP, Research and Development at Snow. “Artificial intelligence is a great example of a rapidly evolving, emerging technology that could enable Snow Labs to address a variety of challenges our customers face when analyzing their technology asset data. We believe AI will fundamentally change the way our customers and partners interact with their data. This is just one of the many ways we are working to bring our technology intelligence vision to life through innovation.”

This is how Snow increases the value of your data

IT manages vast amounts of data – but struggles to convert this data into instructive information for commercialization. According to a recent Snow report, 91% of IT leaders said they need to invest in tools to get more value from their data. This is a factor contributing to the growing visibility gap between IT and the business units it supports. IT struggles to keep track of what software and cloud services are being used within IT and across the organization. This leads to overspending on technology, increased security and compliance risk, reduced ITSM data quality, and slower decision-making. With new generative AI toolsets, Snow can address this visibility gap when understanding and exploiting large technology asset data sets for ITAM, SaaS management and FinOps.

Snow Copilot , one of the first AI assistants designed to solve complex ITAM and FinOps challenges, leverages the Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service. It allows customers to enter questions and get insights into their computer data, such as “ How many computers have been installed in the last 90 days?” “, or explore scenarios under different conditions directly in Snow Atlas. Snow Copilot reduces the need to export data to PowerBI or Excel to gain insights into advanced forecasting, asset allocation, or trending SAM computer data. All information remains in the customer environment to ensure data protection and integrity.

Additional AI-enabled features under the Snow AI umbrella are planned to be explored in 2024, including:

  • Incorporating claims into machine learning : Costly manual uploads of owed amounts are streamlined with automated invoice processing powered by machine learning.
  • Expanded Data Intelligence Service (DIS) dataset with OpenAI : Get more context about the SaaS applications running in your organization with expanded descriptions, including deeper details on categories, features, etc. through the DIS normalization and Snow extension service.
  • Fine-tune Large Language Models (LLM) based on proprietary Snow data : Make more informed and complex technology asset decisions with personalized licensing recommendations.

These new AI capabilities will be available on Snow Atlas, the company’s technology intelligence platform. Released in 2021, the platform provides a more flexible and scalable foundation for continuous innovation. Snow Atlas enables organizations to unify their ITAM, SaaS management, cloud costing and FinOps functions, providing a unified view and insightful information for managing the entire IT landscape.

“The pace at which we are able to innovate at Snow Atlas, both in our standard product development cycles and through Snow Labs, is remarkable, with more than one production release issued daily for the last three quarters,” said Tait. “We are entering a new era that will redefine the way we work with technology, and we want to ensure companies feel confident and ready to embrace this monumental change.”
