Anthropic has unveiled Claude Science, an AI-powered workbench designed to streamline scientific research by bringing commonly used research tools, computational resources and AI capabilities into a unified environment. Built for researchers across academia and industry, the platform integrates widely used scientific packages, supports customizable workflows, produces auditable research artifacts and provides flexible access to computing resources, helping scientists reduce time spent switching between multiple tools and focus on discovery. Unlike previous iterations that had introduced an AI-based model, Claude Science uses the preexisting Claude AI models available from Anthropic, supplemented with an interface customized for computational science.

Claude Science seeks to make the process of reproducing results and maintaining transparency easier through creating traceable outputs and allowing scientists to record their process better. As Anthropic states, this initiative stands out as the largest expansion of Anthropic into the sphere of scientific research powered by artificial intelligence. The beta version is available to Claude Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise users, with the company planning to refine the platform based on user feedback. Anthropic is also contributing to the field of scientific research through the “AI for Science” program, providing select research programs with cloud credits for the purpose of conducting scientific research using AI. Through the combination of AI help and the scientific workflow process, Claude Science is expected to assist researchers in analyzing their data more effectively.
