Bitdefender has launched its Sovereign Acceleration Program, a new initiative designed to help European organizations transition to a fully EU-based cybersecurity and data hosting environment amid growing concerns over digital sovereignty, cross-border data flows and regulatory compliance. The program enables enterprises to ensure that customer data, security events, telemetry and support-related information remain exclusively within the European Union, while also offering commercial contract buyouts and migration incentives for organizations moving away from non-EU cybersecurity providers. It is launched against the backdrop of growing political uncertainties and new legislation, such as GDPR, NIS2, and DORA, compelling organizations to focus more on digital sovereignty and AI sovereignty at a time when there are apprehensions about the risks associated with “sovereignty washing,” which involves claims of compliance through European Union’s data centers without European Union ownership and control.
