Anthropic Launches Cyber Mission to Strengthen Critical Infrastructure and Open-Source Security

Anthropic

Anthropic has announced the launch of the Anthropic Cyber Mission, an extensive initiative that focuses on enhancing cybersecurity with the help of advanced AI-based technologies, resources, and research. The initiative includes the Critical Infrastructure Defense Program (CIDP). CIDP utilizes the Claude frontier model, on-site engineering support, and threat intelligence to help defenders protect operational technology across power grids, water networks, transportation systems, and governmental infrastructures. The initiative will involve such founding partners as Accenture, Booz Allen, CrowdStrike, Deloitte, Dragos, Hitachi, Insane Cyber, Nozomi Networks, Palo Alto Networks, PwC, and Rockwell Automation. CIDP will help trusted vendors detect vulnerabilities in the industrial system and apply patches to remediate these vulnerabilities.

Most of these systems cannot be shut down for the update easily. Also, Anthropic is introducing the OSS Scanner – the service that provides regular security scans of open-source projects with the help of advanced AI algorithms developed by Anthropic. This initiative was built upon the experience gained during Project Glasswing. Anthropic has also expanded its Cyber Verification Program to give more defenders access to its most capable models. Through the Cyber Mission, the company plans to provide engineering expertise, tools and funding to help critical infrastructure operators and open-source communities address security gaps and reduce cyber risks.
