Enterprise software provider OpenText Corp. will acquire Micro Focus International plc, another major player in the enterprise software market, for USD 6 billion. Through the purchase of Micro Focus, OpenText will be able to expand its influence across the corporate technology sector.

The acquisition will also broaden OpenText’s main line of business record management tools. Businesses can use a suite of software from Micro Focus to back up and organize their business records and make sure that data is handled legally.

According to a statement from OpenText Chief Executive and Chief Technology Officer Mark Barrenechea, Customers of OpenText and Micro Focus will benefit from a partner that can even more effectively help them accelerate their digital transformation efforts by unlocking the full value of their information assets and core systems.
