KnowBe4 Unveils Messaging Security for Microsoft Teams on Chat-Based Cyber Threats

KnowBe4, has now introduced a new product known as “KnowBe4 Messaging Security for Microsoft Teams”. This product is aimed at enhancing the existing software of KnowBe4 by offering security services not only for emails but also for enterprise chat platforms. In recent years, there have been many reports regarding the exploitation of collaborative software tools by cyber criminals. As stated in the KnowBe4 Phishing Threat Trends Report Volume 7, Microsoft Teams has emerged as a prime target for hackers, especially those that pose as IT helpdesk employees to steal usernames and passwords. KnowBe4 Messaging Security enables organizations to monitor external messages, identify suspicious activity, scan for risky default Teams configurations, and apply unified threat-blocking policies across both email and chat channels. Additional capabilities include classification tags, risk-level assessments, posture monitoring tools, and a “humans-on-the-loop” approach that allows administrators to validate detection accuracy before enabling automated blocking.

“KnowBe4 Messaging Security has been launched with the goal of enhancing, not hindering, teamwork,” said Greg Kras, Chief Product Officer at KnowBe4. “This provides organizations with a single, unified console that seamlessly secures both email and chat environments, starting with Microsoft Teams. By removing the uncertainty from chat interactions, we empower employees to collaborate confidently. This ensures that both internal and external collaboration drives business value, rather than introducing new liabilities.” The company emphasized that the offering improves visibility into external communication risks while supporting secure enterprise collaboration without disrupting productivity.
