NetApp and Google Cloud have announced new features for Google Cloud NetApp Volumes, a fully managed file storage service, aiming to reduce complexity and enhance performance for cloud storage workloads. These enhancements enable customers to easily scale high-performance enterprise applications and databases, including workloads utilizing petabyte-scale datasets such as electronic design automation (EDA), AI applications, and content data repositories. Praveen Tywoniak, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cloud Storage at NetApp, stated, “For many enterprises, the cloud is the fastest and simplest way to harness AI for data-driven insights.”

The new features include integration with Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform, improved performance levels for large volumes, and support for Google Cloud’s Assured Workloads framework, facilitating compliance with specific regulatory requirements. These advancements aim to accelerate generative AI data pipelines and provide meaningful business outcomes by seamlessly integrating NetApp’s robust data management capabilities with Google’s AI innovations.
