Qlik Unveils Open Lakehouse to Power the Next Generation of Data Architectures

Qlik

Qlik, a global leader in data integration, quality, analytics, and AI, has announced the launch of Qlik Open Lakehouse, a fully managed Apache Iceberg-based solution integrated into the Qlik Talend Cloud. Designed to meet the data demands of modern AI and analytics workloads, the offering delivers a flexible, scalable, and cost-effective data architecture.

Qlik Open Lakehouse allows organizations to ingest millions of records per second from a wide array of sources—including cloud applications, SaaS platforms, SAP, and mainframes—into Iceberg tables with low latency and high throughput. The solution includes an adaptive Iceberg optimizer that automates table compaction, clustering, and cleanup, resulting in up to 5x faster queries and a 50% reduction in storage costs.

“Performance and cost shouldn’t be a trade-off in modern data architectures,” said Mike Capone, CEO of Qlik. “Qlik Open Lakehouse delivers real-time scalability, full control, and the freedom to use the tools that work best for each organization. We built this to support enterprise-scale AI and analytics—without compromise.”

The platform offers native support for querying Iceberg tables using engines like Snowflake, Amazon Athena, Apache Spark, Trino, and SageMaker—without the need to move data or reprocess it. Qlik Open Lakehouse runs within the customer’s AWS VPC using a Bring Your Own Compute (BYOC) model, giving organizations full control over performance, security, and cost.

“Organizations are increasingly adopting Lakehouse architectures to unify data across on-premises and cloud environments,” said Matt Aslett, Director of Research, Analytics and Data at ISG Software Research. “By leveraging open standards such as Apache Iceberg, Qlik Open Lakehouse is well-positioned to meet growing demand for real-time access and multi-engine interoperability—key for unlocking the full value of data for AI and analytics initiatives.”

Currently available in private preview, Qlik Open Lakehouse is expected to be generally available in July 2025. Interested companies can apply for early access or learn more during Qlik Connect, taking place May 14–17 in Orlando.
