Siemens Announced the Acquisition of Precision Innovations to Advance AI-Driven Chip Planning

Siemens Digital Industries Software has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Precision Innovations Inc., which is an EDA software company. This business deal will enhance Siemens’ EDA portfolio as it will incorporate chip planning features powered by artificial intelligence, thus allowing semiconductor engineering teams to improve PPA during the SoC design process.

Precision Innovations, founded in San Diego, California in 2019, specializes in designing EDA software based on the open-source OpenROAD project. The company’s technology allows hardware engineers to evaluate design feasibility, trim design iterations, and accelerate time-to-market as modern SoC architectures grow increasingly complex.

Strengthening Digital Design and Verification Workflows

The addition of Precision Innovations reinforces Siemens’ Digital Design Creation software suite. By integrating early-stage AI design exploration into its existing digital design and verification portfolio, Siemens aims to deliver an end-to-end digital flow that spans architectural analysis, implementation, and full silicon lifecycle management.

This integrated approach equips semiconductor teams with faster feasibility analysis tools, ensuring more informed decisions during downstream implementation phases and boosting overall engineering productivity.
