Rambus Advances Data Center Server Performance with Industry-First Gen4 DDR5 RCD.

Snowflake has announced plans to acquire Select Star, a move that strengthens its mission to deliver intelligent metadata context across enterprises and expand the Snowflake Horizon Catalog for next-generation agentic AI experiences. Since its inception, Select Star has focused on helping organizations more easily find, understand, and use data by capturing not just what data exists, but its lineage, usage patterns, and organizational relevance. As AI becomes more deeply embedded in business workflows, the companies emphasize that “a model or agent can only perform as well as the context it has,” making trustworthy metadata essential for reliable AI outcomes.

Select Star’s universal metadata model-spanning more than 25 integrations-has already enabled customers to enhance AI capabilities through lineage insights, popularity metrics, entity relationships, and semantic context. Its work on the Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server, Ask AI, and automated semantic model generation further underscores the critical role of connected metadata in powering accurate AI systems. By joining Snowflake, Select Star will integrate its leading data lineage and discovery capabilities into the Snowflake Horizon Catalog, enabling Snowflake Intelligence, Cortex Code, and other agentic AI tools to more deeply understand enterprise data and deliver more precise, context-rich insights.
