Universal Robots (UR), the world’s leading manufacturer of collaborative robots (cobots), unveiled the latest addition to its portfolio, the UR15 , at Automate in Detroit . The new cobot is available for order now and will begin shipping in June.
With unmatched motion capabilities and a maximum TCP speed of 5 m /s, the UR15 is the fastest cobot in the UR family, enabling faster cycle times, increased productivity and lower costs across a variety of applications and industries. In pick-and-place applications, the UR15 delivers up to 30% faster cycle times compared to other UR models. While maintaining the unique features of the UR models, such as lightweight construction and small footprint, it provides unmatched flexibility for integration into tight workspaces.
“For 20 years, we have been pushing the boundaries of collaborative automation, making it easier, safer and more powerful for businesses around the world,” said Tero Tolonen , Chief Product Officer. “Today, we take another step forward with the UR15, which is designed specifically for higher-speed operation with the smoothest performance in robotics today. This makes it a seamless fit for a variety of manufacturing environments and provides our extensive partner ecosystem with the opportunity to enhance existing applications and develop new, transformative solutions that take collaborative automation to the next level.”

Combined with OptiMove , UR’s new motion control technology, these benefits go even further, improving trajectory smoothness and ensuring consistently precise movements – even in high-speed, high-load applications.
AI-Ready
The UR15 works with both PolyScope 5 and PolyScope X , UR’s leading software platform, and is ready to be augmented with AI for unparalleled usability. The UR15 can be easily used with UR AI Accelerator , UR’s suite of tools for developing AI-powered applications. UR AI Accelerator is developed in collaboration with NVIDIA using NVIDIA Isaac ’s™ CUDA-accelerated libraries and models and runs on the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin™ system-on-module .
At Automate this week, 3D Infotech will demonstrate a turnkey quality control process with the UR15 and UR AI Accelerator , demonstrating the potential of physical AI in the UR15.
Designed for flexibility, efficiency and reliability,
the UR15 has a payload of 15 kg (33 lbs), which can be increased to 17.5 kg (38.58 lbs) for wrist-down applications such as palletizing. The UR15 is a versatile cobot designed to enable use in a variety of applications and industries – each with unique challenges where flexibility, efficiency and reliability are critical .
Three of these sectors are:
- Automotive , where space is limited and flexibility is key. The UR15’s small footprint and full workspace ensure performance without space or speed constraints. Common automotive applications that were previously limited by cobot production speeds, such as automated bin picking, machine operation, and inspection, can now be significantly accelerated while maintaining the highest levels of accuracy.
- Metalworking and machining in demanding environments. The UR15 offers increased ingress protection, IP65, and high load capacity – combined with ease of deployment.
- Electronics and engineering requiring precision and compact design. With cleanroom excellence class , compact dimensions and exceptional motion control, the UR15 is ready for high-speed picking and putting away and seamless integration with AMR and AGV .
Tero Tolonen , Product Director, added: “We design our products based on the needs of our very diverse customer base. Each industry has a unique set of requirements that determine our approach to our cobots and ecosystem solutions. The UR15 will help customers solve the challenges of today and seize the opportunities of tomorrow.”
A cobot for every need
The UR15 joins the UR20 and UR30 in the new high-performance UR range, the UR Series, designed for those who need higher payloads, advanced capabilities and certifications for demanding environments.
“We’ve also updated our trusted e-Series,” said Tero Tolonen , explaining that the UR5e will get a 2.5 kg (5.5 lb) payload upgrade to unlock more potential in existing builds, and that the UR10e, which already carries 12.5 kg (27.55 lb), will be renamed. “And to better reflect their capabilities, we’re introducing new names : UR7e and UR12e . Same versatility and trusted performance, but clearer names and more power where it matters.”
