Rockfish Data Secures $4M in Seed Funding to Transform Enterprise Data Workflows with Synthetic Data

Rockfish-Data

Rockfish Data, a trailblazer in synthetic data generation for operational workflows, has announced the successful completion of its $4 million seed funding round. The round was led by Emergent Ventures, with additional support from Foster Ventures, TEN13, Dallas VC, NewBuild Venture Capital, and others. This brings the company’s total funding to nearly $6 million.

Founded by Dr. Muckai Girish, Dr. Vyas Sekar, Dr. Giulia Fanti, and Mr. Nathan Haugo, Rockfish Data is at the forefront of helping enterprises and public sector organizations tackle the challenges of data silos. These silos often undermine the effectiveness of AI, machine learning (ML), and analytics workflows, creating significant bottlenecks for businesses aiming to scale.

Modern enterprises face numerous data-related challenges throughout their product lifecycle, including:

  • Demonstrating products to potential customers.
  • Facilitating cross-company or cross-border data sharing.
  • Generating diverse datasets for training and testing AI models.

Rockfish Data’s solution leverages synthetic data powered by advanced generative AI to bridge these gaps. Built on cutting-edge research from Carnegie Mellon University, the company’s platform is the industry’s first outcome-centric synthetic data generation tool. It enables businesses to unlock the full potential of their data, streamlining workflows and driving meaningful results.

Anupam Rastogi, Managing Partner at Emergent Ventures and incoming board member at Rockfish Data, remarked:
“Synthetic data is poised to play a crucial role in ensuring AI models’ robustness and scalability as they transform a range of industries and applications. Rockfish Data’s approach to generating synthetic data using state-of-the-art deep generative algorithms addresses a critical need in enterprise data operations. We’re excited to partner with Rockfish as they enter this new phase of growth.”

Priya Ramachandran, Managing General Partner at Foster Ventures, added:
“Rockfish Data is a company that we have believed in since its inception. We are impressed with the progress the company has made and are excited to be a part of its continued success.”

The company has already earned the trust of several prominent enterprises and public sector agencies, including the U.S. Army and the Department of Homeland Security.

Jibin Zhan, Co-founder and VP of Engineering at Conviva, commented:
“Rockfish Data brings much-needed genAI-based synthetic data generation to the Conviva platform for generating structure-preserving session and event datasets. We are impressed by Rockfish’s ability to create privacy-preserved and high-fidelity synthetic data using state-of-the-art genAI capabilities for a plethora of use cases, including product demos, AI training, and test data generation.”

Highlighting the company’s mission and future vision, Rockfish Data Co-founder and CEO Dr. Muckai Girish stated:
“We are on a mission to make it easy for enterprises to overcome data silos as they build AI and ML workflows at scale. We have redefined how synthetic data can be generated for operational workflows using generative AI. This funding round will allow us to continue our product innovation and invest in more go-to-market initiatives that accelerate adoption.”

With this infusion of capital, Rockfish Data is poised to accelerate its growth and further solidify its position as a leader in synthetic data innovation, helping organizations maximize the value of their data assets.
