Quantinuum announced a groundbreaking Quantum Generative AI (Gen QAI) framework – leveraging unique quantum-generated data to enable commercial applications in areas ranging from new drug development, to accurate predictive modeling of financial markets, to real-time optimization of global logistics and supply chains. The potential of these three capabilities alone is immense, and this framework is expected to unlock solutions to other complex problems that classical computing cannot solve.
For the first time, data generated by Quantinuum’s powerful H2 quantum computer can be used to train AI systems, dramatically improving the fidelity of AI models and enabling them to tackle challenges previously considered intractable. With this achievement, Quantinuum is setting a new standard for AI training and problem solving across a variety of industries.
“We are at one of those moments where the hypothetical becomes real and the breakthroughs enabled by the precision of this quantum-generated data will create transformative business value across countless industries. Gen QAI is a direct result of our comprehensive capabilities and leadership in hybrid classical-quantum computing, delivering an entirely new approach that will revolutionize AI,” said Dr. Raj Hazra, President and CEO of Quantinuum. On February 4, Dr. Hazra will participate in a panel discussion at the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQST) 2025 in Paris to share additional insights into the groundbreaking development of our Gen QAI.

“While some believe that a standalone quantum computer is years away, the business opportunities from this breakthrough exist now,” said Dr. Thomas Ehmer, Healthcare Business Unit, Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. “Generating meaningful synthetic data, especially when you don’t have a lot of training data, is non-trivial and we see this as a new era for AI unlocked by quantum technologies. The Helios system, which we hope to launch later this year, will enable AI to be used in new ways and unlock its transformative potential across all industries.”
Gen QAI leverages the unique capabilities of quantum computing to explore data complexity far beyond what classical computing systems and GPUs can handle. Quantinuum is collaborating with industry partners on generative AI projects that harness the power of quantum computing in industries such as automotive, pharmaceuticals, and materials science. In the coming months, Quantinuum will share the results of its ongoing collaborations, and highlight the revolutionary potential of quantum advances in generative AI.
