OpenAI unveiled a major expansion strategy to scale artificial intelligence access and capabilities for developers, businesses, and consumers worldwide, driven by significant new investments and strategic partnerships. OpenAI is announcing $110 billion in new investment at a $730 billion pre-money valuation, reflecting robust confidence in the company’s mission and long-term product growth. This includes contributions of $30 billion from SoftBank, $30 billion from NVIDIA, and $50 billion from Amazon, with additional investors expected to join as the round progresses.

The capital infusion and partnerships expand OpenAI’s global reach, deepen infrastructure support, and strengthen the company’s balance sheet to help bring frontier AI to people, businesses, and communities on a larger scale. OpenAI’s announcement underscores a phase of growth that moves advanced AI technologies from research into broad real-world deployment across industries and use cases.

OpenAI highlighted that demand for artificial intelligence is surging across consumer, developer, and enterprise segments, and meeting that demand requires significant compute capacity, distribution reach, and sustained capital backing. The company’s expanded investment positions it to scale infrastructure fast enough to support growing workloads and turn that capacity into reliable products that users depend on daily.

OpenAI products already demonstrate significant scale and adoption:
• Codex has seen weekly users more than triple since the start of the year, reaching 1.6 million weekly users, enabling more people to build, automate, and ship software with AI assistance.
• ChatGPT now supports more than 900 million weekly active users globally, with over 50 million consumer subscribers and strong subscriber growth in early 2026 that marks the largest months of new sign-ups in company history.
• Over 9 million paying business users rely on ChatGPT and the OpenAI platform for work, with organizations integrating generative AI across engineering, support, finance, sales, operations, and deployment of enterprise AI coworkers via the Frontier platform.

As part of the announcement, OpenAI detailed strategic collaborations with Amazon and NVIDIA. The multi-year partnership with Amazon aims to accelerate innovation for enterprises, startups, and end consumers by combining cloud infrastructure, distribution channels, and AI services. The expanded collaboration with NVIDIA includes access to dedicated inference and training compute capacity – up to 3 GW of inference and 2 GW of training on Vera Rubin systems – building on existing hardware deployments and enhancing OpenAI’s ability to train and deploy frontier models at scale.

“We’re pushing the frontier across infrastructure, research, and products to make AI more capable, reliable, and broadly useful. SoftBank, NVIDIA, and Amazon are long-term partners who share our ambition to turn real scientific progress into systems that deliver meaningful benefits for people at global scale. Building AI that works for everyone will require deep collaboration across the stack, and we’re excited to do this together,” said Sam Altman Co-Founder and CEO of OpenAI.

OpenAI emphasized that this funding and these partnerships will enable the company to pursue its mission to ensure that artificial general intelligence (AGI) benefits all of humanity – scaling both infrastructure and product delivery to meet growing global demand for advanced AI. The substantial valuation also increases the value of the OpenAI Foundation’s stake in the OpenAI Group to over $180 billion, strengthening its capacity to support philanthropic commitments such as health breakthroughs and AI resilience initiatives.
