Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Expansion: Empowering Enterprise AI Agents with Multi-Layered Knowledge and Continuous Learning

Amazon Bedrock

At the AWS Summit New York, Amazon announced major capabilities for Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, a comprehensive platform built to efficiently create, connect, and optimize AI agents. These updates target critical enterprise operational gaps by streamlining data integration, enhancing live external grounding, and establishing scalable governance controls. To broaden contextual depth, AgentCore introduces native access across three distinct data layers. The organizational knowledge layer utilizes the newly generally available Amazon Bedrock Managed Knowledge Base, which connects scattered unstructured repositories such as SharePoint, Confluence, and Google Drive via an advanced agentic retriever. This eliminates complex engineering pipelines by coordinating queries across multiple databases natively. Supplementing internal data, the world knowledge layer integrates a new Web Search tool powered by Amazon’s search infrastructure, enabling agents to securely reference public information and real-time data within isolated AWS environments.

Emphasizing the real-world value of these unified capabilities, Masahiro Oba, Senior General Manager, Sony Group Corporation, noted: “At Sony, we’re building an enterprise AI agent platform on AgentCore where teams across business units can develop, share, and reuse AI agents from knowledge assistants to workflow automation agents each tailored to their needs. Our enterprise knowledge is distributed across repositories such as SharePoint, Confluence, and Amazon S3, and includes complex documents such as PDFs, presentations, and spreadsheets with charts and tables. Now that Bedrock Managed Knowledge Base and Web Search are available in AgentCore, we can equip agents with advanced retrieval and live web grounding with a consistent governance model, without building these capabilities from scratch. This accelerates our vision of transforming how people work, with AI as a catalyst, at scale.” Beyond information retrieval, AgentCore equips enterprise developers with automated diagnostic tools, session isolation via microVMs, and continuous optimization features, allowing enterprises to seamlessly scale, trace, and continuously improve production-quality agents.
