Grafana Labs has announced the general availability of six new AI capabilities during its inaugural AI Week, transforming Grafana Assistant into an agentic operations layer that helps organizations detect, investigate, and remediate production issues while supporting software development from planning through deployment. The new releases include Grafana Assistant Investigations, Grafana Assistant Workspace, Grafana Assistant Automations, the Grafana Cloud MCP server, gcx, and Grafana Agent Observability. Designed to address the growing pace of AI-driven software development, the expanded platform shifts observability earlier in the software lifecycle, enabling engineers to identify scalability concerns, generate instrumentation, monitor production deployments, and automate incident response from a unified AI assistant. According to Grafana Labs’ 2026 Observability Survey, while 92% of practitioners see value in AI-powered anomaly detection, only 57% have implemented observability for their AI systems, highlighting a significant adoption gap.

Grafana Assistant Workspace provides a centralized environment for chats, live canvases, and investigation reports, while Assistant Investigations converts ongoing analyses into shareable reports, streamlining collaboration and incident management. Together, the new capabilities aim to improve system reliability as development teams accelerate software delivery with AI. “We used to treat observability as something you bolt on just before code reaches production,” said Mat Ryer, Senior Director of AI, Grafana Labs. “That’s changing. Now, Grafana Assistant can review your plans before you’ve written a line of code, add the instrumentation for you once you have, watch features as they land in production, and stay with you as you scale while dealing with the inevitable incidents that follow. It’s the same assistant end-to-end, and it doesn’t just advise; it acts.”
