Fivetran, a global leader in data integration, has announced its agreement to acquire Census, a prominent provider of Reverse ETL and data activation solutions. This strategic move aims to establish the first fully managed, end-to-end data movement platform, enabling enterprises to seamlessly transfer governed, real-time data across their entire technology stack—from source systems to data platforms and back into operational applications.
“This is an exciting moment for Fivetran, and even more so for our customers. For years, our most strategic customers told us they also want to action their data in real-time with Fivetran, not just centralize it in a warehouse. With Census, we’re delivering on that need,” said George Fraser, CEO of Fivetran.
Founded in 2018 and based in San Francisco, Census has developed a strong customer base across various industries. The company’s team, including co-founder and CEO Boris Jabes, will join Fivetran to lead its data activation strategy. Jabes emphasized the synergy between the two companies, stating, “Fivetran set the standard for simplicity and reliability in data movement, and by joining forces, we’re creating the most complete and trustworthy platform for actionable insights, and AI-powered workflows.”

The acquisition expands Fivetran’s capabilities, increasing its total number of connectors to over 900. This includes support for cloud applications, databases, data warehouses, and operational tools, facilitating comprehensive data movement in all directions. The integration of Census’s Reverse ETL technology enhances Fivetran’s ability to deliver trusted, modeled data into every part of an organization’s stack, supporting real-time, AI-powered decision-making.
This acquisition marks Fivetran‘s third, following its 2021 purchases of HVR and Teleport Data, which bolstered its change data capture and high-speed database replication capabilities. The company’s continued growth and innovation underscore its commitment to evolving with the needs of modern data teams and setting the standard for automation and scale in data movement.
The transaction is expected to close following customary closing conditions.
