Kaltura, Inc., a leader in AI-powered video experience solutions, has announced a definitive agreement to acquire eSelf.ai, an emerging multimodal AI lab specializing in interactive, photorealistic avatars. The acquisition marks a major step in Kaltura’s evolution from enterprise video enablement to delivering immersive, AI-driven virtual agents that redefine customer and employee engagement.
Founded in 2023, eSelf.ai has quickly gained attention. Its conversational avatars support over 30 languages. The intuitive studio lets users design, guide, and deploy digital agents easily. The company’s technology combines AI-driven visuals with advanced speech recognition and screen comprehension. This creates real-time, human-like interactions and enterprise-ready workflows. Led by Dr. Alan Bekker and Eylon Shoshan, the eSelf.ai team of 15 AI specialists has been recognized by FastCompany as one of 2025’s “Next Big Things in Tech.”
Once integrated, eSelf.ai’s technology will enhance Kaltura’s AI Video Experience Cloud, embedding lifelike avatars into Kaltura’s suite of video products and Genie agents (Class, Work, CX, and TV). These avatars will listen, converse, and interpret user screens in real time, helping enterprises boost engagement, improve training, and enhance customer interactions. The acquisition will also enable Kaltura to launch self-service, embeddable avatars and an AI-driven video-on-demand creation tool—broadening access for small and medium-sized businesses and enterprise departments alike.

Echoing the vision, Dr. Alan Bekker, Co-founder and CEO of eSelf.ai, added, “eSelf.ai enables immersive, real-time conversations with agentic avatars that are highly engaging, hyper-personalized, and impactful. Once the transaction closes, joining Kaltura will take our conversational avatars to production at a global scale…”
The deal is worth about $27 million. It includes a $7.5 million cash payment upfront. There’s also $12.5 million tied to performance milestones. Additionally, 4.69 million Kaltura shares will vest over three years. The acquisition should close in Q4 2025, pending regulatory approval.
This acquisition puts Kaltura at the forefront of AI-powered video and virtual agents. It boosts their ability to provide scalable, interactive, and human-like experiences across various industries.
