Zscaler, Inc. has announced intent to acquire Symmetry Systems, Inc., a cybersecurity company focused on identity mapping and data access visibility for AI security. Symmetry Systems provides an “access graph” that correlates access logs from SaaS applications, cloud platforms, data stores, and AI systems to map relationships between human and non-human identities, applications, and data. This will integrate with Zscaler’s Zero Trust Exchange platform. As AI adoption scales, traditional identity-based security models built for human users are becoming insufficient, as AI agents operate with ephemeral identities, inherited permissions, and autonomous interactions that create blind spots in data access and communication.

The combined solution aims to deliver real-time graph visibility and dynamic policy enforcement, enabling security teams to understand triggers, data usage, and system interactions and respond to risky behavior. “As enterprises rapidly adopt AI, the old playbook for governing access built around users and directories cannot scale to millions of AI agents,” said Jay Chaudhry, Chairman and CEO of Zscaler. “With Symmetry Systems, we are adding the access graph that maps how every identity, application, and data source connects across the enterprise. This foundational visibility is what Zscaler’s Zero Trust Exchange will use to govern agent-to-application and agent-to-agent communication at scale, giving customers the actionable control they need to safely embrace AI.”
