MediaTek Develops Arm-based Chip for Microsoft’s AI Laptops

MediaTek, a Taiwanese fabless semiconductor company, is developing an Arm-based personal computer chip for  Microsoft’s Windows operating system, according to a report by Reuters.

In the previous month, Microsoft revealed next-generation laptops that have integrated chips designed with Arm Holdings tech. These chips offer sufficient horsepower to run artificial intelligence applications, which are going to be the future of consumer computing. The Taiwanese company MediaTek has geared up for this project.

The PC chip manufactured by MediaTek is planned to be introduced late next year, post-expiry of Qualcomm’s exclusive deal to provide chips for laptops, according to the same report. This development signifies a broader paradigm shift in the PC market.
